Common Fast Charging Technologies

  • Qualcomm Quick Charge: Adjusts voltage and current to maximize power delivery. Quick Charge 3.0 can provide up to 18W (9V/2A or 12V/1.5A), significantly reducing charging time. Quick Charge 4+ can deliver up to 27W and includes features like dual charge and thermal management.
  • USB Power Delivery (PD): A universal standard that can deliver up to 100W of power, making it suitable for a wide range of devices. Allows for dynamic power negotiation between the charger and device, ensuring optimal and safe power delivery.
  • Apple Fast Charge: Utilizes USB PD to charge compatible iPhones and iPads up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a USB-C to Lightning cable and a compatible power adapter.
  • Proprietary Technologies: Many manufacturers have their own fast charging technologies, such as OnePlus Warp Charge and Huawei SuperCharge, optimized for specific devices to deliver very high power outputs and rapid charging speeds.
